About the School

Classes are held on Monday and Wednesday evenings;

Monday - Inchinnan Community Centre

 6-7pm        Highland only (all levels)

 

Wednesday - Inchinnan Masonic Hall

6-7pm             Highland beginners

7-8pm             Highland Advanced

 

History of the School

The class has been running in Inchinnan for over 50 years, started by Daisy Mackenzie (known to those in the village as Daisy Sweetin) Daisy successfully taught and guided her dancers to competitive and show level as well as supporting local events before sadly passing away a few years ago. The school is now run by Michelle who attended Daisy's dancing since the age of 4 and now has over 25 years experience, and taught alongside Daisy for a number of years.

Michelle McMillan - Principal Teacher

All highland classes are taught by Michelle who has been dancing and competing for 30 years with a vast experience and knowledge of Highland Dancing, with the aim of passing all this knowledge on to her pupils. Michelle is a fully qualified teacher, examiner and adjudicator with the Scottish Offical Dancing Association (S.O.H.D.A) which is the organisation all dancers will be members to in order to compete and sit exams.

Michelle is also a founder member of Keltika Dancers - a group created with experienced dancers who travel abroad to dance at festivals and shows.

Kirsty Hutchison - Teacher

All Tap and Ballet classes are taught by Kirsty who also has a over 25 years experience and has been part of Daisy's dancers since the age of 4. Kirsty competed in highland for many years before deciding her expertise lay within Tap and Ballet. She then went on to complete all her Tap, Ballet and Modern exams and has been teaching Tap and Ballet within the class for a number of years as an Associate Teacher.

Jennifer Gibson - Teacher

Jennifer has been a member of Daisy's dancing for a number of years also, starting at the age of 5 and also being involved primarily in Highland before progressing into and specialising in Ballet. Jennifer has completed all her Ballet exams and began teaching advanced ballet a number of years ago within the class.

Verne - Adminstation Co-ordinator

Verne is Daisy's daughter and has been involved in the class for a number of years dealing with the class adminstration and assisting of all events and shows. Verne attends all classes and supports the girls at competitions as much as possible.

Victoria McCallum - Qualified S.O.H.D.A Teacher

Victoria has attended Daisy's dancing since the age of 5, competing for a number of years. Daisy took Victoria to teacher level. Victoria regulary supports class events, shows and attends classes (when work allows). Victoria is also a member of Kelitka Dancers.
